Events for carers in Luton
On Friday 10th December from 11am to 12noon (via an online meeting by Zoom), Luton Council’s Social Justice Unit are looking to gain the views, thoughts, and feelings of Luton residents with additional educational or physical needs, and long-term conditions.
The team wants to hear about people’s experiences of living in Luton as a resident with additional needs, and what more could be done by the Council to make Luton a fairer place for all. They will use these discussions to shape the Council’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. The team would be grateful if you can RSVP to Lauren Cox on email@example.com if you would like to attend and you will be included in the email invite and provided with the Zoom login details.
On Thursday 9th December Rett UK are organising an online meeting for carers of people with Rett syndrome. Book your place on their website.
The Mind BLMK team are promoting several free wellbeing and mental health webinars during December 2021: Understanding and Dealing with Grief, Coping With Stress at Christmas, Understanding and Managing Anger, Festive Period, Assertiveness, Living with a long-term health condition, Sleep Hygiene, Winter Wellness, Confidence and low self-esteem, ACT-ing in line with new values (Mindfulness), Dealing with Stress and Living Well With Pain.
Free care skills training for unpaid carers and PAs – The Care Academy is a popular place for unpaid carers and PAs to study vital care skills. Since 2017 the Care Academy has helped many hundreds of people improve their care skills and raise the level of service they provide. Many of the training modules support those required to achieve the Care Certificate standards. See The Disability Resource Centre website for full details.
The Disability Resource Centre is also running free online exercise and Yoga classes for residents of Luton and Bedfordshire. Either join live classes by online video or watch recorded videos at a time to suit you. See their website for details and dates of the live and 100% free exercise and Yoga classes. They are also organising free wellbeing and care skills training for carers and disabled people. See their training page for links to all the available free training workshops and courses.
